Communications Assistance/Support For SAAHA CTR on Nov.7&8

Here is the first announcement and request for volunteers to help out at an Equine Event in November.

This is a new public service event available for Amateur Radio Operators to hone their skills. This time it will involve HORSES and their respective mounts.

We are in the VERY preliminary stages at this time but I would like to PUSH hard for bringing in some digital modes for this event. Preferred modes will be Packet and/or D-Star Data modes in the VHF/UHF(2m, 70cm, & 1.2GHz) regimes.

As always there is a need for voice but handling repetitious data via voice is a heinous waste of efficientcy for that mode and should be delegated to what best serves the transfer of data...i.e. DATA MODES.

I hope this smaller event will set the stage for digital integration into larger events such as.... "24 Hours in the Old Pueblo".

So long story short, if you are interested in this event, let me know and I will get you on the list for future updates.

This should be really a good incentive for those folks that spent WAY to much money on D-STAR (like me)..and allow you to get some return on investment other than just being another mode do voice ragchew.

So I had better hear from those other D-STAR folks out there... let us put those radios to use!!

Tnx,
Owen
